An unusually long silence. Partly because I have been on holiday (motorcycling in the Canary Islands, glorious) and partly because I have been exploring some themes a little off the main track of 'World in Transition'. My 'core business' is the big picture of what I believe to the be biggest social shift, still in its early stages, since the 16th century. That's a much broader issue than, for example, the science, politics and sociology of covid. Nonetheless, the 'covid story' is clearly inseperably a part of that bigger picture. And if we don't have the due dilligence to 'look back and learn' we will already be going into the bigger picture heavily disadvantaged. So a couple of deep retrospectives will be coming shortly - hopefully with the kind of different perspective that only retrospect can provide.
I hope they will be worth the wait and that I will be able to encourage some continued engagement with a theme which has already tried everybody's patience! We really cannot afford to sigh with relief, bang the door shut and move on without learning.
Until then, I thank you for your interest in 'World in Transition' up to now!
Hi Michael ,
you well deserved holidays. I am looking forward to reading your new essays.
It is well know that through Homeostasis systems try to maintain their "big picture" in spite of local changes.
